Fun and Funny Images of ‘Melted’ Bridges
Mar 16th
This is one of the most entertaining set of pictures I have seen in a while. At first, I thought I was looking at pictures from Japan, at bridges and roads that have been warped and distorted from the recent earthquake. But these roads are not really warped at all, they just look like they are.
I read this article fro the Huffington Post today, about “Google Earth’s Surreal, ‘Melted’ Bridges”. Apparently, what happens is that Google Earth’s software has a few glitches in it, and when it takes pictures of landscapes from its satellite, sometimes it doesn’t interpret the images quite as accurately as we might think. The result is roads and dip and swerve in surreal and unnatural ways, almost like a Dali painting.
Clement Valla likes to collect these images, and has dozens of pictures of warped bridges, and roads that look like they’ve melted, or are bending in all kinds of amusing ways. Looking at them is kind of like looking at the world through a fun house mirror. Nothing is quite right.
These images will likely disappear from Google Earth, as they improve their technology, so check them out while you still can.
You can see a collection at the Huffington Post site if you go here:
